Dirty Little Secret

Roaches. They're here and they're gross. It's not like Hawaii or anything, but I have seen a few the last few nights. They are large like in Hawaii, but not the giant ones. Probably about one to two inches long, brown, and assuredly with wings though god forbid I ever see them use them. One of the more sickening creatures on this lovely earth. I'm not happy to dislike them, but I can't seem to help it. I just keep a wide berth.

...There's a joke in there somewhere, but I don't have it (wide berth)...

(Pictured: Fried bugs at the market. These are labeled "mackerel", but I'm pretty sure they're giant cockroaches. A protein-filled snack!)

Angie...loved the pic of the Bhudda's. They are extraordinarily beautiful. What do the Thai's consider traditional Thai? Do they serve that food in local restaurants. I thought ice would be a rarity in the third world. Thank heavens it is not...sounds like it is hot and humid. The humidity would take me out in a few days. It is interesting and helpful to pay attention to the nuances in life. Do they use traditional Thai healing?? Every time I pictured the hundreds of collisions that must occur on those tiny scooters packed with humanity...I wondered how the locals treated themselves medically. Are there traditional healers that you know of? love to you both...rhonda

Ahhh cockroches...perhaps the most formidable creature on earth. Grab a copy of Kafka's The Metamorphosis. I am sure they have a copy hanging around in a bookstore. Gives new meaning to cockroaches. r

Yeah, cockroaches! Do they at least have lizards of any type to help out with the infestation? At least Hawaii has geckos.

Sounds like you having fun, but I like to think that I having as much fun. For example, tomorrow (Saturday) I get to go to work all day! Rock!

Oh, Kane, the bike is done. What's more amazing is that it acutally works. I'll get some pics to you soon. The +8' of chain loks awesome, like a bicycle with a chainsaw for a drive system.

I was wondering when cockroaches would appear in the blog. I think California has the only little cockroaches in the world. I appreciate that alot. Everywhere else in the U.S. and the world, they seem to range from really big to prehistoric, industrial sized, mega-giants - so huge that if they sold them at Costco, you'd only have to buy a one-pack. At least they don't bite or sting or anything. If you haven't already, try to get some pics of one of the families riding around on those little scooters and blog or email it. That would be very interesting to see. Must look like a dogpile of people with 2 wheels under them. Probably can't even see the scooter underneath them all. Well, I hope you guys continue having a good time. This is such great fun following you along on your trip with the blog. Stay safe. I love you!
