Rain in Melbourne

We arrived in Melbourne today by plane. It's raining like the dickens, which wasn't nice for our half mile or so walk from the train station to our stupid motel. We met the people whose house we're renting for the next 2 weeks - they're nice and so is their place. We move in tomorrow.

Internet is expensive here, so won't be on quite as much. Laptops are in the works, so hopefully we'll be happily settled with a laptop each in a few weeks (ahem, Thom). Just wanted to check in and let everyone know our progress.

Pics to come of the Sydney opera house, it was pretty cool.

Sounds as if everything is going quite well. Again, I am happy to know you are well. I love the exploring part. How hot is it? The sandwich actually sounded interesting, perhaps minus the beets. Those seem to belong in a category all their own and on a plate of their own.. The dollar to dollar ratio may serve you when you actually start your jobs. Good job and home hunting. Both of you must be ready for a place to call your own. love to you...rhonda

The first thing you need to remember about Austrialia is that they're pretty much British (don't tell them that). Which means that they don't understand what ingredients should & should not go into your meals. Also, they can't pair food worth a damn. go get an English breakfast...it's got eggs covered with beans. Then there's always Veggimite *gag*. Now I'm having terrible flash beacks to the food I survived off of in New Zealand. Take it easy guys

Hey Ang,

I am so happy to hear you're feeling better. I was quite shocked. You're such a trooper. If anyone could remain positive after that experience, it is you. It sounds like you're having an awesome time. The pictures are great. I show them to my students and they find them interesting...and sometimes funny. I miss you a lot and expect a phone call...a tired one...on Christmas. Love you and say hi to Kane for me. Tiff

Now I get it - after Eric pointed it out - they don't know how to pair food normally. Eggs and beans....yuk! Maybe they will teach you some new and interesting vegetarian combos. Maybe not. Definitely sounds British. Although, I've never been to Britain so how would I know? Just sounds British. I'm glad your rental place is nice. Well, good luck with all the stuff you hafta do. You both stay safe and healthy. I love you.
